Job Summary
Responsible contact tracing, case investigation and coordination with internal and external stakeholders during COVID-19 pandemic. Maintains high standards of communication and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA. Uses a web-based surveillance system to call all persons diagnosed with COVID-19 and identify close contacts as defined by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH). Must follow all established scripts, policies, and procedures provided by KSU's Office of Emergency Management and comply with KSU and CDPH training regarding confidential information related to personal information.


Contacts identified confirmed cases (self-reported, cases provided by Student Health Services, and Cobb-Douglas Public Health)

Communicates with cases and contacts in a professional and empathetic manner

Follows a script to inform confirmed cases about the importance of isolation and what follow up steps are needed

Provides contacts with approved information about Georgia Department of Public Health quarantine procedures and guidelines

Maintains contact with supervisor

Uses existing procedures to solve routine problems and perform a range/variety of tasks/activities

Assists in identifying possible outbreak/cluster locations on campus

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent

Required Experience
On the job training provided

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Able to maintain confidential information and act with discretion
Able to handle sensitive information
Able to communicate information clearly and concisely
Able to enter data into assigned databases
Able to capture information from phone interviews
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines

Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
Excellent relationship building skills such that they can build and maintain trust with patients and teammates
Attentive listener
Empathetic and compassionate communicator
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
