The Information Technology Department has an immediate opening for a Programmer Analyst. This position is responsible for working with administrative staff to optimize the use of computing technology in support of the business functions of the University. The Programmer Analyst plans, designs and implements database and web interface solutions using the University Intranet, Jenzabar SIS, Infomaker, portal systems and other vehicles. This position also serves as a backup for supporting administrative users of the University in their use of various administrative systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Experience and skills associated with programming including; design, modification, implementation and maintenance
  • Knowledge of coding languages (e.g. PHP, JavaScript, Java) and experience with frameworks/systems (e.g. Symfony, Git) and version control tools or methods
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience integrating web services/external APIs
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Coldfusion and web server administration, including hardware, web server environments and software applications

Applicant must also have the ability to effectively convey information in-person, in writing, and through training sessions; have technical writing skills to document instructions for users; desire to work with students, faculty and staff and to facilitate the resolution of their problems; ability to prioritize multiple tasks; ability to work well individually and/or as a member of a team; ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations; have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; and must be able to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally.
