Position Highlights

The College of Medicine Thomas D. Boyer Liver Institute is seeking candidates for a Research Nurse III to be a Study Coordinator for multiple liver disease related clinical trials working under the direction of the Primary Investigator. This individual will be responsible for interpreting and executing sponsor protocols, recruit, educate and provide direct patient care to study participants. The successful candidate will be licensed to practice nursing in Arizona.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development, execution and interpretation of clinical trials, protocols and treatment plans.
  • Participate in study monitor visits, resolves findings and data inquiries, and frequent interaction with sponsors.
  • Collaboration with Regulatory Coordinator to prepare, coordinate and/or maintain all regulatory documentation including IRB submission and approval of new or revised protocols, safety reports and progress reports.
  • Develops standard operating procedures, compliance forms, and tracking documents.
  • Screens electronic medical records for recruitment of study participants, interviews and evaluates potential participants, obtains consent signatures, and collects and maintains subject data.
  • Coordinates and/or performs physical assessments, administers medications and treatments, monitors patients during procedures, documents medical data in patient record, and coordinates medical or lab tests according to study protocols including but not limited to blood draws, EKG, liver scans.
  • Ensures proper collection, processing, and shipping of specimens in accordance with Human Subjects requirements and study protocols.
  • Record patient reported outcomes and assessments.
  • Provides protocol and research subject information to health care investigators.
  • Creates and maintains individual study binders housing study, sponsor, patient data.
  • Maintain inventory and order supplies for individual studies.
  • Evaluates and develops patient educational materials.
  • Instructs and counsels patients, family members, clinical staff and research staff on research procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • RN licensure and graduation from an accredited nursing program required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications

*Master's degree from a accredited nursing program. *Bilingual in English and Spanish. *Experience and knowledge of clinical trials, protocols, IRB. *Experience in patient care and education. *Experience with electronic medical record (Cerner). *Excellent computer skills with ability to utilize multiple databases. * Experience working with multicultural populations.
