Brief Statement of Duties
The candidate will teach in the English Department’s minor program in print journalism and NMU’s interdisciplinary multimedia journalism major, and advise the student newspaper—The North Wind. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate classes in newswriting and reporting, feature and magazine writing, print layout and design, and journalism practicum. This is a campus-based position.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education: Doctorate or equivalent terminal degree

Discipline / Degree Area: Communication, Journalism, or a related field

Required Specialized Training/Certifications: Record of publication in the journalism field.

Required Minimum Work Experience: Work experience as a journalist.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties: Preferred qualifications: college or university teaching experience, demonstrated commitment to professional/scholarly/creative engagement and service, ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and good interpersonal skills.
