General Summary

Manage disciplines within each school under supervision of the Dean of Health Sciences.

Specific Position Duties

Dean Duties:
  1. Oversees the School of Health Sciences programs and services;
  2. Serves as the primary liaison between faculty and administration;
  3. Oversees staffing, advising, evaluating, budgeting, scheduling, and daily operations of the school.
  4. Assists with coordinating dual credit courses at off-campus and extension sites.
  5. Contributes to the development of college goals, policies, and direction as related to instruction by serving on the Instructional Leadership Team;
  6. Effectively handles routine procedures necessary for the successful, day-to-day operation of the department as delegated by the department chair;
  7. Submits required reports and schedules in a timely manner to the Associate Vice President for Instruction-Efficacy;
  8. Maintains effective relationships with professional counterparts throughout the college and the community;
  9. Oversees School of Health Sciences Academic Success Coaches with advisement on degree plans and degree applications in order to comply with completion requirements;
  10. Assists with recruiting, marketing, and outreach for school programs;
  11. Actively participates in college functions and events, and engages in community service. DRI Position Specific Duties
  12. Direct the schedule build for the discipline;
  13. Ensure compliance with instructional practices including SACSCOC and other agencies within the Health Sciences field ;
  14. Manage, budget, and order supplies;
  15. Schedule department meetings and maintain minutes to submit to the Associate Vice President for Instruction-Efficacy;
  16. Lead and assist Department Chairs with class observations for returning faculty;
  17. Support LED and faculty in Core Program Outcome documentation and assist in assessment;
  18. Hire adjuncts and oversee adjunct support plan;
  19. Initial signature for forms (leave, incompletes, student schedule changes, etc.);
  20. Oversee curricular development;
  21. Attend meetings as scheduled;
  22. Perform annual faculty evaluations;
  23. Address student complaints;
  24. Attend completion ceremonies, such college graduation;
  25. Perform other duties as assigned. 
Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree or relative experience and license in a Health Science field. Oral and written communication skills needed to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds;

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in one of the disciplines supervised or related fields. 

Reporting Relationship

Varied according schedule. Clinical oversight may occur during evening and weekend hours, and at extension sites.
