Anticipated Hiring Range

$5,834 - $6,056 per month ($70,008 - $72,672 annually)

Position Summary

The Case Coordinator serves as a key team member in the University's equity, inclusion and compliance efforts. Reporting to the Executive Director of Equity Programs and Compliance (Title IX Coordinator/DHR Administrator), the Case Coordinator assesses and manages reports of misconduct to assist in determining whether they allege violations of California State University (CSU) Executive Orders and supports the Title IX Coordinator/DHR Administrator in assigning cases for processing and resolution.

Position Information

The Case Coordinator will review and respond to incident reports in a timely manner, assist with their triage, coordinate and manage cases through the unit's case management system, maintain confidential records in accordance with CSU policies, engage in collaborative problem-solving and coordinate the provision of supportive measures for impacted parties in a fair and impartial manner that emphasizes excellent communication skills, empathy, and patience. The incumbent assists students, employees and third parties in navigating campus and department resources, responds to questions as appropriate, and communicates directly with the Title IX Coordinator/DHR Administrator, Equity Programs and Compliance managers and Title IX/DHR Case Manager-Investigators to coordinate case plans and to ensure the timely and confidential completion of investigations and informal resolution of cases.

The Case Coordinator assists with the tracking and monitoring of Title IX and DHR cases to meet proscribed deadlines, develops case management checklists, protocols and procedures and assists in the coordination, tracking, and monitoring of Title IX compliance training. The Case Coordinator communicates and follows up with other units and stakeholders as necessary to resolve case-related issues.

The Case Coordinator serves as the unit's expert on case management software and assists in the creation and maintenance of web-based materials on the Equity Programs & Compliance website. The incumbent collects and prepares data related to compliance with the CSU Executive Orders and state and federal law, as well as in response to internal and external requests for information. The incumbent assists in data collection for campus climate assessment.

The Case Coordinator assists in consistently improving the effectiveness of complaint processing and response protocols to ensure party needs are being met while systemic issues are identified and addressed.

General administrative duties include maintaining case timelines in compliance with the CSU Executive Orders, communicating with campus partners regarding policy enforcement and providing support to unit Administrators and Case Manager-Investigators.

Incumbent may conduct related training as necessary, coordinate hearings under CSU Executive Orders 1096 and 1097 and complete other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field related to the primary duties and responsibilities of the position, or an associate degree plus two (2) years of related experience, or four (4) years of related experience.
  • Knowledge of Title IX, Clery Act, VAWA, FERPA, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, the Americans with Disabilities Act and other applicable federal and state civil rights and employment laws, regulations and court decisions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of investigatory procedures related to student conduct, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation in a higher education setting.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with a diverse range of university community members.
  • Exceptional organization skills, including the ability to coordinate a significant caseload.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize, index, and track records to further compliance with regulatory timelines/deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of office systems to organize information into reports.
  • Capability of handling multiple work priorities.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe and Zoom.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or other advanced degree in a field related to the primary duties and responsibilities of the position.
  • Experience working in a higher education or legal environment.
  • Demonstrated experience or familiarity with Title IX, Clery Act, VAWA, FERPA, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), affirmative action, the Americans with Disabilities Act and other applicable federal and state civil rights and employment laws, regulations and court decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience with California State University Executive Orders as they relate to sexual misconduct, domestic and dating violence, stalking, sexual harassment, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
  • Proficiency with Maxient or other case management software and Drupal 8.


Incumbent must be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty and staff. Incumbent interacts regularly with the Dean of Students Office, Labor Relations & Employee Development, Student Affairs & Enrollment Management staff, SAFE Place survivor advocates, University Police Department, Faculty Affairs, Counseling & Psychological Services and the Registrar's Office.
