Job Description

The Business Support Systems Developer participates in the assessment and implementation of information technology and decision support solutions for the President, Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer, and Executive VP and Provost senior management areas. Position will provide both technical and non-technical expertise in the development and maintenance of business systems and processes, and the development of business intelligence collection and reporting. This position will work closely with a User Experience design team to create and maintain public facing responsive and accessible websites. This position will be responsible for assessing the information technology needs of end users, collaboratively developing strategies for meeting identified needs, and designing and implementing agreed upon solutions. Solutions are often created using SharePoint and its related add-ons and development completed with C# and corresponding Microsoft development technologies.

To accomplish job responsibilities, the Business Support Systems Developer will work in collaboration with other Business and Management Systems (BAMS) team members to identify and secure the proper equipment, applications, systems, and access to data. This position will implement and maintain systems in accordance with university, state laws, federal laws, policies, and regulations.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Business Support Systems, this position will provide rapid, effective and courteous services that advance and support the data management and development needs of the office. The Business Support Systems Developer must demonstrate a high degree of initiative and self-sufficiency, and the ability to work effectively one-on-one and as part of group projects and teams. The Business Support Systems Developer must be an effective communicator with users and other BAMS team members.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in latest versions of Microsoft desktop operating systems and server software. Also, experience in the latest versions of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in relational database design, object-oriented programming, and database reporting software.
  • Experience in front end responsive website design using Microsoft development technologies, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Experience analyzing, designing, developing, and documenting business and management information systems and tools for end users.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to convert user specifications into functional project requirements.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts at a level appropriate to the intended audience.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to independently prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Experience working with Microsoft SharePoint technologies.
  • Experience with a variety of computer languages such as Visual Basic, PHP, C#, C++, ASP, .NET, and SQL.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience with MS SQL Server administration.
  • Software project management and project delivery experience.
  • Experience with MS Power Platform.
  • Experience adhering to web accessibility standards.
  • Experience collaborating with user experience design teams.
