Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

Department Information
The Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology is the second largest engineering college in Georgia with over 5,000 students. Students receive hands-on learning experiences from industry-expert faculty in the University's state-of-the-art facilities to produce Georgia's next generation of integrated engineers, with technical knowledge, intellectual depth, and experience in professional skills. With two programs in the Top 20 largest programs, the college has the third largest African American student enrollment among engineering colleges. The Mechanical Engineering department consists of 1665 undergraduate and graduate students and 23 full-time faculty members. The faculty are committed to growing a program which is nationally recognized for providing an outstanding education to aspiring engineers, as well as peer-reviewed research with relevance. Scholarship in the Department includes both industry- and government-funded research projects focused on the practical application of engineering principles. The faculty have expertise in areas including heat transfer, materials science, fluid mechanics, computer aided engineering, machine design, dynamics systems and control theory, and best practices in engineering education. Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track Lecturer or Senior Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering faculty position in the Department of Mechanical Engineering beginning August 2022. Rank will be commensurate with experience and determined upon hire.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and potentially graduate courses throughout the curriculum, with emphasis on the mechanics sequence of statics, dynamics, strength of materials, and fluid mechanics (shared with the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering). Responsibilities also include teaching other ME courses such as materials science, thermodynamics, computer aided engineering, and related laboratory courses such as fluid mechanics, strength of materials, vibrations and controls, and heat transfer. Some service activities at the department, college, or university level are expected.

Required Qualifications
An earned Master's, or the foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, or related field is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • An earned Ph.D., or the foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Related work experience and/or Professional Engineering licensure
  • Record of past teaching in higher education
  • Experience in teaching strength of materials (including related laboratory course) and other engineering mechanics courses
  • Experience teaching in various delivery modes
  • Evidence of teaching and working with a culturally and an ethnically diverse community
