Position Highlights

Facilities Management is looking for a Project Manager for Custodial Services. The Project Manager, Custodial Services plans, coordinates and manages custodial activities in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment ensuring compliance with quality cleaning standards and all University and departmental policies and procedures. This position manages Custodial services to various areas of the University campus on a variety of work schedules. The successful candidate will possess a management style which includes excellent team building skills, budget experience, team cleaning concepts, quality controls, staff training and development resulting in excellent customer service and a demonstrated track record of leadership qualities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages Custodial Area Supervisors and their teams.
  • Communicates with customers and staff to ensure needs are met and cleaning standards are achieved.
  • Confers with and advises staff, students and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, goals completion and policy interpretation.
  • Provides coaching, training and team building to staff to enhance their career development and safety.
  • Oversees hiring and promotions; chairs hiring selection committees.
  • Coordinates service requests and schedules for custodial activities, major projects and all special functions to meet customer needs while maintaining balanced workloads of multiple teams.
  • Communicates effectively and respectfully with staff, customers and the University community.
  • Prepares proposals and manages budgets ensuring the required supplies and equipment are available to staff to meet quality cleaning standards.
  • Prepares periodic and special reports for management on custodial activities, safety, budget, goals, etc.
  • Monitors and negotiates outside vendor contracts in cleaning of outlying properties, window washing, pest control, termite control and uniform distribution.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.
Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Driver's License upon employment.
Ability to drive according to the UniversityFleet Safety Policy.
