Position Overview: This position serves as a teaching laboratory assistant and research laboratory technician. The lab tech monitors laboratory safety and serves as liaison to the University’s Risk Management Committee on issues that relate to laboratory safety and OSHA/EPA compliance. It requires the ability to set up laboratory experiments and oversee student work in a teaching laboratory. This position also assists in establishing and enforcing chemical hygiene and health compliance policies and procedures to assure that the laboratories comply with local, state, and federal regulations. It performs additional technical, scientific, and professional work in support of the University’s laboratory research programs. Duties include performing laboratory audits to recognize, evaluate, and control chemical or biological contaminants as a part of a comprehensive safety program that assures that Manchester University provides a safe and healthy work and learning environment for its students, faculty, and staff. Additional duties include coordinating the monitoring, recording, and handling of hazardous materials with applicable outside agencies/vendors. For a full list of job functions, please visit

This is a full-time, exempt position with hours that may include some evenings and weekends.
