Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for twelve-month, non-tenure track Research Support Librarian and Librarian Assistant or Associate Professor faculty positions in the Kennesaw State University Library System beginning May 1, 2022. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience. The application deadline and start dates have been extended. The position is open until filled.

The position is under the general supervision of the Director of Research & Instructional Services and part of the Research & Scholarship Team. This position supports the university's R2 trajectory by providing critical support through the development of academic enrichment opportunities and partnerships, tailored advanced research support, information discovery source mastery, and creating digital research tools.

Because a number of classes take place on weekends or during the evenings, the position will occasionally be required to work during these times to serve the needs of the students. Although based primarily at the Kennesaw campus, this person may need to work at the Marietta campus or other affiliated locations.

Librarianship duties include (80%):
  • Provide instruction in research and information literacy for both face-to-face and online classes
  • Foster relationships with faculty to incorporate library instruction into courses in multifaceted ways
  • Develop and maintain digital or physical instructional materials to support subject disciplines and individual courses
  • Work with students to develop advanced level library research skills
  • Develop academic enrichment opportunities to support advanced student and faculty research
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with KSU units, departments, research consortium, centers, etc. that support student and faculty research efforts. Support university research teams' activities and initiatives.
  • Maintain working knowledge of emerging trends in advanced research support
Service (10%)
  • Engage in KSU Library System service, KSU University service, and service to the library profession.
Scholarship (10%)
  • Participate in scholarship, research, and/or creative activity. Contribute to the development of the library profession and/or subject-specific discipline through scholarship, presentations, and publications.
Required Qualifications
  • An earned Master's in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited program, or the foreign equivalent, or related field is required.
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Instruction experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years experience working as a librarian in an academic library or equivalent experience
  • A record of professional service
  • A record of developing scholarship within academic librarianship or subject specialty
  • Knowledge of or experience providing data literacy, digital humanities, and/or STEM research support
