Coordinator, Career Services and Student Employment
The University of Akron The University of Akron, Career Services and Student Employment Department, are seeking to fill two Coordinators of Career Services and Student Employment positions.
Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include: supporting University mission and goals to positively impact enrollment, retention, experiential learning, and career outcomes; serving as career liaison for students and alumni with regard to career development, co-ops, internships, student employment, and job placement, which may include employer relations and / or student employment responsibilities; assisting in developing and conducting presentations, workshops, and other special outreach programs; supporting student engagement, employer relations, student employment, experiential learning, and programming and event initiatives; acting as Career Liaison to specified colleges or initiatives providing group and individual career advising and assist with obtaining experiential learning and job opportunities; providing career advising, presentations and instructions to assist students in their career decision-making process; working with faculty in assigned colleges to increase opportunities to present career content in the classroom; instructing students on the use of computerized career guidance systems (Focus2), job boards, including Handshake, and other career aiding resources to assist with the development of career goals and choice of major; assisting in planning and managing specific career programs and events, such as Career Fairs and Etiquette Lunches; assisting with developing campus outreach programs, to include virtual and in-person information sessions to engage students and faculty; coordinating campus-wide programming efforts with students, faculty, and other campus departments; developing and coordinating communications to students and faculty about events and programs; supporting student engagement, employer relations, student employment, experiential learning, programming, and event initiatives; researching, benchmarking, and exploring new ways to engage with students to meet their changing needs; establishing and strengthening key campus partner collaborations (i.e., Alumni, Admissions, Financial Aid, Payroll, Student Life) for programming and events; supporting campus initiatives, especially those impacted by Career Services and Student Employment; performing functional guidance of nonexempt staff including general scheduling, assigning tasks and monitoring work activities; assisting with monitoring of student workers and their assigned projects; and perform administrative and other duties as assigned for Career Services.
A relevant Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of one (1) year demonstrated experience and success in adapting to changes and current trends in a progressive career services / higher education environment, corporate recruitment, or other relevant experience. Experience with career services or recruiting software programs. Knowledge in word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and database software packages. Strong interpersonal communication, positive attitude, and collaboration skills. Some evening and weekend hours and may involve remote work.
