Salary for Announcement

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $57,600 - 76,900. The full salary range is $57,600 - $96,200.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Director of Advancement Marketing is responsible for the strategic development and execution of University Advancement's marketing efforts. Reporting to the Senior Director for Advancement Communications and Giving, the Director will leverage a multi-channel approach to increase brand awareness and raise funds from MSU Denver alumni, faculty, staff and friends. The Director will play a critical role in planning strategies and implementing tactics for external and internal audiences to advance University Advancement's visibility and inspire giving.

Duties/Responsibilities

40% Develop and Implement Comprehensive Marketing Plan
  • Oversee the division's marketing, branding and media efforts
  • Help shape key fundraising messages to ensure consistent messaging across channels to improve awareness of the University's fundraising priorities
  • Serve as the primary copy writer across UA's print and digital platforms
  • Create, develop, distribute and maintain UA print and digital assets (e.g., brochures, reports, website, social media, and website) via multiple channels
  • Work with the Senior Director to develop and implement content strategy for fundraising-related communications and fundraising publications including direct mail solicitations and the annual report
  • Serve as the liaison to the Marketing Office to streamline collaborations and coordinate efforts
  • Manage relationships with marketing vendors and contracted professionals, serving as the project manager for all out-sourced projects
40% Digital Marketing
  • Manage all digital marketing channels (e.g. website, blogs, emails and social media) to ensure brand consistency
  • Serve as UA's primary web author
  • Provide video filming and production support for marketing efforts including supporting crowdfunding projects, Day of Giving and stewardship efforts
  • Oversee Alumni Association social media account and develop a comprehensive social media strategy
  • Produce graphics and other design assets for emails, social media and fundraising appeals concepts, graphics and layouts for solicitation and stewardship communications
20% Campaign Marketing
  • Work with campaign leadership, counsel and contract workers to execute marketing strategy for campaign communications
  • Assist Anchor Shine with video production needs throughout course of campaign
  • Create fundraising proposal templates for campaign solicitations
  • Provide strategy and tactical support for the University's campaign website
Required Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. Minimum 7 years of progressive marketing or communications experience
  3. Minimum 3 years of social media strategy and execution experience
  4. Intermediate to advanced skills in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, etc...)
  5. Intermediate to advanced skills in video editing software
  6. Experience using QuadWrangle or similar CMS software
  7. Experience working in Raiser's Edge or similar CRM software
  8. Experience gathering and interpreting data to conduct program planning and evaluation
  9. Experience working in a professional capacity working under the confines of discretion and confidentiality.

  2. Minimum 5 years experience working in higher education.
  3. Ability to analyze date and manage detailed information.
  4. Proven verbal and written communication skills.

  6. Strong leadership skills and the ability to take initiative and drive a team to achieve goals.
  7. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
