Position Highlights

The Research Technician will assist current personnel in developing solutions to research problems which require the regular application of scientific knowledge and wet-lab skills in order to conduct experiments in a biomedical research laboratory. The Research Technician is a contributor to the execution of specific projects as assigned and is responsible for all aspects of their projects from protocol development through delivery of the scientific product. They should actively participate in determining the course, identifying applicable methods, and validating the protocols within the assigned projects. The Research Technician works collaboratively with lab's principle investigator, postdoctoral researchers as well as independently on the research projects. The Research Technician sets up and operates laboratory equipment, prepares reagents and stock solutions, performs in vitro experiments, records and analyses research data. Based on his/her analyses, the Research Technician prepares reports and presentations of results obtained through experiments. The Research Technician also helps to assure the validity of the results obtained via ensuring the operational condition of scientific equipment and managing the efficient use of the equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conducts research experiments independently with minimal supervision in collaboration with postdoctoral fellows, research professors, associated faculty, and students. Conducts literature searches and maintains an up-to-date knowledge of all current methods of experimentation through professional reading assignments.
  • Collaborates on the development of the experimental design, identification of the appropriate methods, setting up and validation of the experimental protocols, making innovative as well as basic measurements.
  • Utilizes knowledge of specific methods and protocols of molecular biology, biochemistry and cell biology to obtain, analyze, and interpret data of scientific experimentation.
  • Utilizes a basic understanding of laboratory equipment in order to operate and maintain the equipment to ensure its operational condition and to assure validity of the data obtained through experimentation.
  • Maintains accurate records of experimental protocols, obtained data and analysis performed based on specific experiments for a given project.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in the field of study of Bio-Chemistry or Bio-Medical preferred.
