Job Description

The Senior Financial Aid Specialist coordinates and administers various financial aid programs and performs specific job tasks and functions unique to the position and as assigned by the supervisor. The position provides general information and assistance to students and parents; and processes and awards financial aid applications.

The Senior Financial Aid Specialist must be able to manage a program from development to assessment as well as implement procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Some examples of job tasks and functions include: loan programs (Federal Direct & Alternative), ISIR data load, Banner Student Information System set-up, packaging and auto awarding of aid, Common Origination & Disbursement, Federal Work Study, Return of Title IV Aid, Satisfactory Academic Progress, Financial Literacy, State Scholarship Program, and Institutional & Endowed Scholarships and website updates.

This is an exempt, professional staff position.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.


Required Education

Bachelor's degree required.

Required Experience

One to three years of experience in financial aid.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Federal Verification & FAA Access to CPS Online
Common Origination & Disbursement (COD)
National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS)


Preferred Qualifications

Experience using Banner and Argos systems.

General Weekly Work Schedule

General work schedule is Monday to Friday, with one late evening per week on Monday or Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Final work schedule to be determined by the supervisor.
