Position Overview:
The Department of Theater and Dance at Rider University seeks four adjunct instructors of Theater for the Spring 2022 semester. We are hiring four "emerging" professional directors to each direct two 10-minute plays for the Rider New Works Project. Those hired for these positions will select the plays they will direct from a pool of Rider student submissions, subject to final approval by departmental faculty. Auditions for the shows will be held in late-January. The productions run March 23 - 27, 2022.

Position Requirements:

  • MFA in Directing already earned or in final year of study.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a production team to realize a script into a fully staged production.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide constructive feedback to actors
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated ability to lead productive, efficient, and pedagogically sound rehearsals

Position Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Prior experience directing and developing new works.
  • Experience working with college student actors in an acting training program.
