Job Description

The Division of Vehicle, Driver & System Safety (DVDS) is seeking hard working, innovative, flexible, and qualified individuals with an interest to assist in managing a federal University Transportation Center (UTC) grant and to learn, deliver, and recruit for transportation research at VTTI. UTC Research projects range vary in length from short 6-month projects with a small participant pool to longer 12 or more-month projects with larger participant pools. Each research project can be in different stages such as proposal stage, award & reporting, and closet stage. The role may evolve into assisting with the execution of various research projects through driving.

Role requires demonstrated ability to consistently and accurately track project; strong attention to details, problem solving, communication, organization, and documentation skills.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
Tracking on multiple projects| Collecting deliverables | Supporting writing technical reports| Participant recruitment| Updating Websites| Recruit potential participants | Most office hours are daytime Monday through Friday, but must be available and willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet project/proposal deadlines.

Directions given and received:
Receive instructions on project objectives, feedback on proposed reports, and project logistics from principal investigators and project managers. May supervise or coordinate the work of students and others who assist in specific assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Technical-oriented Associate Degree (e.g., A.S., A.T.) or previous significant related office experience.
  • Previous experience in a customer service environment. Strong communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, flexible research environment.
  • Willingness to be trained to operate a range of vehicles for testing.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Willingness to be trained to recruit participants
  • Previous experiences with MS office products
  • Experience with successfully meeting deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with research human subjects/data
  • Previous experience in transportation research.
  • Previous experience in assisting management of project
  • Experience with Federal UTC grants
