Job Summary
The compensation manager is responsible for managing the compensation function for Georgia Southern University Staff departments. They plan, develop and implement new and revised compensation programs, policies and procedures to align with the University's goals and competitive practices. They are also responsible for ensuring that the University compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations.

  • Manage the development, implementation and administration of compensation plans
  • Monitor the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommend changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and University objectives
  • Provide advice to University staff on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and position descriptions
  • Design creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans
  • Develop techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data
  • Oversee the participation in salary surveys and monitor salary survey data to ensure University compensation objectives are achieved
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP)
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Human Resources or related field
Preferred Experience
  • Five (5) years HR, supervisory experience
Proposed Salary
$44,400 - $50,500
