Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota invites candidates to apply for a three-year term Assistant Professor faculty position in the department of Biology that will start in August of 2022. This individual will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the university, including teaching undergraduate biology courses and labs such as upper division Human Anatomy and Physiology courses as well as General Biology; student advising, service on departmental committees; and engage in research appropriate for undergraduates. At Saint Mary’s the standard teaching load is 22-24 credit hours per contract year, and this individual will be expected to teach this load. As per need of the department, the applicant may potentially teach a course in the applicant’s discipline.

This position is ideal for candidates who wish to build their teaching portfolio while joining a team of high-quality faculty instructors. Support through peer-faculty mentoring and the Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching is available to assist the applicant in furthering their professional growth and goals.

Applicants must hold or expect to receive a Ph.D. or terminal degree of Physiology or Anatomy related program by August 17, 2022. Experience or evidence of potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate biology is required. Preference will be given to applicants who are able to develop and teach Anatomy and Physiology courses and have a broad Biology background to be capable of teaching in our General Biology series. The candidate will be expected to actively mentor students in research that culminates in a student thesis.

The successful candidate will have the following credentials and experience:

  • A doctoral or terminal degree in a Physiology or Anatomy related discipline.
  • Experience or evidence of potential for excellence in teaching undergraduate biology.
  • Active engagement in physiological research amenable toward mentoring undergraduates for their senior thesis project.
