Job Title: Instructor or Assistant Professor – Nursing and Program Coordinator for Nursing Program

Work Schedule: Full-Time, 12-Month

Salary Range: Instructor Rank - $48,000 to $63,142

Assistant Professor Rank $49,637 to $67,448

FLSA Status: Exempt


Responsible for instruction, guidance and evaluation of students in the ADN Nursing Program. This position also serves as the program coordinator for the Nursing programs (ADN, NURC) to be responsible for carrying out specific coordinator duties including accreditation requirements, . Participates in ongoing program development. Works cooperatively with program faculty. Must be willing to teach at multiple sites (Schnecksville, Tamaqua, Allentown campuses) and various clinical sites in the greater Lehigh Valley. Directly responsible to the Nursing Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recommends changes to the instructional programs and curricula as required. 
  • Keeps and submits appropriate academic records. 
  • Maintains instructional effectiveness by ongoing self-evaluation and incorporating current developments in instructional and learning strategies. 
  • Teaches courses in accordance with the master course outline and within the schedule of classes. 
  • Assists librarians in keeping the College collections and services current. 
  • Assists the College in keeping technology, facilities, and equipment current. 
  • Plans with the assistance of the Director of Nursing, Dean, Associate Academic Dean, to insure availability of supplies, textbooks, and classroom equipment requisite to the successful teaching of assigned classes. 
  • Maintains regular office hours, as approved by the Director of Nursing, Dean, for consultation with students. 
  • Serves as faculty advisor to student organizations (voluntary). 
  • Serves as a faculty advisor to students in their program of study. 
  • Recruits students for programs of study. 
  • Participates in academic audits. 
  • Assists in preparation of budgets for submission to the Director of Nursing/Dean.
  • Assists in preparation of academic schedules for submission to the Director of Nursing/Dean. 
  • Serves on College committees and advisory boards.
  • Where appropriate, makes recommendations to the Director of Nursing, Dean, Associate Academic Dean on staffing courses.
  • Works with Director of Nursing, Dean, and Associate Academic Dean, and fellow faculty including adjuncts to maintain academic standards and integrity.
  • Works with new faculty in the area.
  • Actively participates in faculty development activities.
  • In addition to College-sponsored development activities, maintains professional development and stays current in his/her field of study.
  • Works with counselors, advisors, and other College staff in responding to student needs.
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
  • Discharges those additional duties normally and customarily associated with College faculty.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

Program Coordinator Responsibilities:

  • Accreditation: interpret and ensure compliance with rules and regulations related to accreditation, certification, and licensure as applicable.
  • Accreditation Communication: prepare accreditation documents as required.
  • Assessment: coordinate collection and analysis of assessment data and report preparation for the division.
  • Clinical Education: coordinate with clinical sites to schedule faculty and student clinical education experiences
  • Consulting: consult with coordinators and administrators of other divisions/departments and programs to provide appropriate information for division faculty.
  • Convocation: participate in planning Adjunct/Part-Time Faculty Convocation activities and other adjunct/part time activities with the Director of the Teaching Learning Center.
  • Division Policies: recommend and coordinate approved implementation of division policies with the Dean and other areas of the college impacted outside the division/department
  • Marketing and Recruitment: assist in internal and external marketing and recruiting of students for programs within the division, including division/department website, marketing materials, and campus events such as open houses.
  • Mentoring: onboard new faculty.
  • Professional Development: serve as liaison with Faculty Instructional Technology and Teaching Learning Center to coordinate professional development opportunities.
  • Professional Memberships: coordinate memberships in professional organizations related to the program(s).
  • Reporting: liaise with Academic Services, other divisions, and School of Student Support and Success in preparation of low enrollment reports and periodic audits.




  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution.


  • Current, unencumbered RN license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)
  • Vaccinations and other health care requirements of the nursing programs and clinical site affiliations.

Work Experience

  • Strong clinical expertise with nursing experience involving direct patient care or teaching experience within two years of employment. 
  • Must have experience in medical/surgical nursing and complex care nursing.

  • Doctorate
  • Bi-lingual
  • Teaching experience in a community college environment as well as experience in the development of curriculum and course materials.
