GENERAL SUMMARY

The Senior Admissions Specialist assists the Admissions Department leadership in the managing of day to day tasks and projects, while also maintaining an active role in the review of qualified applicants. This includes determining applicants' admissibility to the university, evaluation of transcripts, and awarding of transfer of credit based on guidelines developed by the applicable schools.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a mentor for new-hires and assist with new-hire training
  • Provides support and assistance with project management as assigned by Admissions Manager and/or Director of Admissions
  • Manage Banner processes including Banner pushes and Add School functions
  • Assist with or complete Reserve report
  • Help to manage audit process
  • Attend meetings on behalf of their team
  • Stand in for managerial activities when their supervisor is out
  • Fully cross train on other college's programs to help manage workflow during peak periods
  • Reviews applications and administers the admissions decisions process as defined by individual schools.
  • Awards transfer of credit based on standards and guidelines developed by the schools
  • Completes unofficial assessment of transfer credit for prospective students
  • Acts as liaison to enrollment department to help advise potential students on admissions requirements, transfer of credit, and policies and procedures
  • Supervises the transcription of transfer of credit awards into the student information system once official evaluations are complete
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time.

Occasional travel may be required for professional development opportunities and/or other institutional related activities or events.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Master's degree required
  • 3-5 years of progressive work experience in admissions, Academic Advising, or Office of the Registrar
  • Excellent writing communication and oral presentation skills
  • Computer literate and proficient in Salesforce, Banner, and Onyx
  • Ability to evaluate student transcripts and records
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work on special projects, tasks and assignments
  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance or coaching
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary.
