Position Highlights

The Asthma & Airway Disease Research Center is seeking qualified applicants for the position of BEAMS Recruitment Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for recruitment and follow up of study subjects for the Binational Early Asthma and Microbiome Study (BEAMS), a large, NIH funded research project designed to investigate factors that may provide protection from childhood asthma. This position will have primary responsibility for recruiting participants through our clinical partner in the US and for maintaining appropriate records and forms pertaining to enrollment. The recruiter position will also be responsible for collaborating with other research staff to collect data from participants, including administering questionnaires and collecting both human and environmental samples. Responsible for general project activities relating to scheduling, translation, inventory and documents.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recruitment of new study participants. This includes responsibility for all
    preparations for enrollment and screening of patients at the El Rio Midwifery
    clinic. For interested patients,
    responsible for obtaining consent, completing all relevant forms, providing of
    materials to participant and scheduling of home visit.
  • Responsible for follow up activities such as
    entering some data into REDCap and arranging for subject payment. Responsible for maintaining excellent
    relationships with providers and staff at El Rio.
  • Data collection on participants in Tucson. Responsible for collaborating with other
    staff to either take the lead or serve as assistant for home visits for
    participants. Tasks include scheduling
    and confirming of home visits, preparing materials for the visit, interviewing
    participants, retrieval of human samples and environmental sampling.
  • Responsible for preparing of samples in the
    field for transport and communication with and delivery of samples to the
    lab. Responsible for close out activities
    for the visit, entering items into REDCap, review of forms, and preparing forms
    for data entry.
  • General project tasks. Other
    project activities include review of Spanish translations; revising and
    uploading documents to Teams; inventory and ordering of supplies; assisting
    Mexico team by providing materials, reviewing protocols, providing training as
    needed; developing and/revising forms and SOPs; other tasks as required.
  • Monitor progress and prepare reports.
  • Preparation of daily and weekly recruitment reports. Creation of other
    reports as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 year's relevant work experience.
  • Possess a current Arizona driver's license.
  • Transportation for home visits when State car is not available.
  • Bilingual (Spoken/Written) Spanish and English.

Preferred Qualifications

*Direct experience in Human Subject's Research. *Phlebotomy training/experience. *Demonstrated recruitment experience.
