Position Highlights

The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) is a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center dedicated to the prevention and cure of cancer through patient care, research, and education. The UACC is seeking candidates for a Compliance Coordinator II position. This position will provide dedicated monitoring support for investigator-initiated clinical trials at the University of Arizona Cancer Center. This employee will have regular contact with investigators, regulatory staff, operations staff, and administrative staff. It is expected that this person will have knowledge regarding clinical research monitoring practices.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical site IIT monitoring, ensuring compliance with the protocol, Code of Federal Regulations/International Conference of Harmonisation/Good Clinical Practices (CFR/ICH/GCP) guidelines, local regulations and applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Review source documents and case report forms for clarity, consistency and accuracy.
  • Review and track regulatory and pharmacy documentation; track subject screening and enrollment.
  • Prepare and/or modify monitoring documents.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of current monitoring practices and applicable regulatory requirements and guidelines.
  • Conduct routine internal monitoring of NCTN cooperative group trials.
  • Communicate with site staff to assure adherence to protocol and regulatory guidelines and resolve problems timely.
  • Actively participate in compliance team meetings.
  • Attend and participate in site initiation visits for investigator initiated trials (IITs).
  • Review data and safety monitoring plans for all trials undergoing UACC Scientific Review Committee review.
  • Provide support to CTO staff preparing for external audits, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

* Excellent technical writing skills.
* Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Knowledge of MS Word (word processing) and Excel.
* Knowledge of medical oncology terminology and treatment concepts.
* Familiarity with University of Arizona and Federal policies and procedures for protection of human subjects.
* Previous experience with national cooperative group and private industry cancer clinical research.
