Position Announcement

The Department of Nursing at Dixie State University (DSU) in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time professional-track Instructor of the Practice position (teaching lecture, laboratory, and/or nursing assistant courses), starting Fall Semester 2022.

The Nursing Department seeks to help students achieve their academic, career, and life goals, including those related to providing safe, evidence-based patient-centered care to all. Responsibilities
  • Teach 30 credits over a broad spectrum of undergraduate lecture, laboratory, and/or nursing assistant courses per academic year.
  • Work with the department chair and other nursing department faculty in designing curriculum/courses with measurable objectives and learning outcomes, preparation of class outcomes and schedules, and development and continued assessment of the nursing assistant program.
  • Assist in ongoing efforts of all aspects of nursing program accreditation, including self-report, on-site visits, follow-up, and ongoing evaluation.
  • Hold regular office hours as outlined in academic policy. Attend department meetings, advise on student assessment, and vote on department issues (as appropriate).
  • Improve professionally and maintain currency in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Masters of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) + state instructor certification required.
  • Must hold current Registered Nurse License for the State of Utah or eligibility to gain Utah Licensure or by Interstate Compact.
  • Teaching experience in lecture, laboratory, and/or clinical nursing assistant courses in a college setting, dealing with diverse student populations, required.
  • Knowledge of subject matter, appropriate course content, current trends and methodologies in education and nursing.
  • Knowledge of computer-based technology as used in clinical and educational environments, including online learning, mobile devices, and high-fidelity simulation.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly with students, staff, and colleagues, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work well with other faculty, staff, and students.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month) professional-track faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2022, with pay & benefits starting July 1, 2022.
