The Department of Emergency Medicine is recruiting for the position of Accounting Assistant III to assist with broad scope of accounting activities. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of Finance & Operations, as a key part of the department's business team.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Initiate transactions in UAccess Financials such as vendor
    payments, disbursement vouchers, purchase order requisitions, and employee reimbursements
    to expend funds according to budget and in compliance with University policies
    and procedures.
  • Initiate transactions in UAccess Employee to create and/or
    fund position control numbers.
  • Initiate new hire transactions for project specific
  • Reconcile P-cards with accuracy, completeness and in compliance
    with University policies and procedures.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of departmental accounts to
    review and monitor account transactions, account budgets, employee payroll and
    distributions, balances and account reconciliations and make corrections as
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for accounts consisting designated,
    grant/contract, gift, foundation, state, and other funding sources, ensuring
    compliance with sponsor, UA, UAF, and governmental policies and regulations.
  • Monitor grant subawards and process invoiced payments
    according to budget and scope of work.
  • Monitor grant and contract account renewals or continuations
    and follow up with UAHS, PIs, or SPS as necessary to ensure timely submissions.
  • Serve as a point of contact to Faculty and Staff for
    business transactions by answering questions and providing guidance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

*Highly prefer UAccess experience. *Highly prefer grant and contract experience.
