Position Highlights

The Arizona Student Unions is looking for a Steward Lead in Sanitation. Performs a variety of services in the Sanitation area for students, faculty, staff and guests. Provides formalized work leadership to assigned staff and/or operate satellite food service areas that are located in outlying areas on campus.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintains the cleanliness of the production kitchen
  • Trains, plans and directs the day-to-day work of staff.
  • Completes daily and weekly checklist including:
    • Cleans walls, floors, restocks items, cleans vents, and empties trash
    • Cleans hood exhaust vents
    • Cleans ovens, fryers, warmers, steamers, broilers, large pots, and walk-ins
    • Monitors and enforces that sanitation principles are being executed by all employee
    • Assists in dish, pot and pan room
    • Greets and serves customers in a friendly courteous manner
    • Provides suggestions and input to supervisor
    • Works harmoniously with coworkers
    • Cleans machines during each shift, including exterior of machine
    • Participates in all required staff trainings
    • Monitors and enforces that sanitation principles listed below are being executed by all employees
    • Prevents cross contamination of food products
    • Weighs, labels and dates all food items; store in designated areas
    • Cleans counters and work station, walls, shelves, drain screen and floor mats
    • Washes all utensils and check to see that all utensils are properly stored
    • Paints and patches in production area
  • Assists in other special projects
  • Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge
    of the organization, job content, practices and procedures.
  • Has acquired the
    knowledge and skills necessary to be proficient in all aspects of job.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or
    equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of
    relevant experience required.
  • Must be able to occasionally transport/move a minimum of 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervise catering events experience
  • Hot/cold prep experience
  • Lead staff experience
