Description

The Office of the University Registrar is seeking applications for an Assistant Registrar for Course Planning and Scheduling.The Assistant Registrarfor Course Planning and Scheduling, while under the supervision of the Associate Registrar for Operations, will oversee the block scheduling process for New Student Orientation (NSO) and FTF. The position will work closely with colleges and other campus constituents to determine commonly used courses for each major and develop seat projections. This position will require data collecting and working with the scheduling software to create and modify sections to be utilized during NSO while preserving efficient allocation of seats for currently enrolled students. The Assistant Registrar in conjunction with NSO, will also be overseeing the STEM schedule and projecting seats and section times needed for an upcoming semester and assist in course planning initiatives.

In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:

  • Work proactively to develop accurate course, section, and seat projections for course planning.
  • Manage, monitor, and adjust allocation of sections and seats for commonly enrolled courses in close collaboration with academic units.
  • Facilitateand assists with data collection of required coursework for all majors within the colleges and schools for first-time freshmen.
  • Create various reports and provides data to support institutional processes to ensure appropriate number of sections to offer.
  • Estimate number of sections and seats required for block scheduling of freshmen students.
  • Manipulate and maintain the schedule in real-time and as required for block scheduling of freshmen students.
  • Coordinate the STEM schedule with the academic units to minimize scheduling conflicts and improve course availability.
  • Monitorissues with scheduling and serves as liaison between the OUR and Scheduling.
  • Assist with Scheduling during high volume periods.
  • Supportin the development and implementation of new institutional scheduling and course planning initiatives.
  • Supportthe academic units in implementing waitlisting where appropriate and effective in improving course planning and scheduling.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the following:
    • Experience in Registrar's Office or other area of student services or equivalent area in private industry.
    • Experience working in a complex organization serving multiple stakeholders.
    • Critical analysis of quantitative and qualitative data.
    • Use of student information systems or similar data warehouses or databases.
  • Proficiency with data analysis.
  • Proficiency with using Evisions Argos or other data reporting tools to create reports and provide data.
  • Proficiency with higher education student information systems.
  • Must possess an in depth understanding of the role and function of the Office of the University Registrar at a complex institution with multiple campuses.
  • Prefer familiarity with the use of degree audit systems.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills as well as an ability to "bridge the gap" between technical and functional users with all constituent.
  • Experience with an Enterprise Workflow System strongly preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and resolve difficult problems independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
