Processing Specialist - International
This position exists as the lead processor of international applications and member of the Admissions Operations Team. Working as a conduit to the Assistant Director of International Recruitment, the Center for International Education, Athletics Department, Graduate School, and Bear Central staff this position is responsible for understanding and communicating complex policy and procedures, evaluating foreign credentials, and processing all undergraduate and graduate international applications. This position will assist with processing domestic applications as bandwidth allows.
Responsible for processing all undergraduate and graduate international student applications, transcripts, foreign credentials, and English proficiency test scores accurately and expeditiously. Assist in the evaluation and processing of international applications for admission to determine qualification for direct, conditional and/or provisional admission in line with established university and program entrance requirements. Notify the NCAA compliance staff of any missing materials for student-athletes in a timely manner. Utilize available resources including, but not limited to, ACCRAO Edge, NAFSA Foreign Credentials Evaluation Resources, NCAA publications, and World Education Services (40%)
Actively participate in the development and maintenance of a proactive and service-minded application, enrollment and matriculation workflows and communication strategy for incoming international degree-seeking students in close collaboration with ISSS team and key campus offices. Assist with the annual review of international applicant communications, checklists, and decision letters. Identify areas of improvements and make ongoing recommendations to allow UNC to better serve and inform international candidates for admission (20%)
Ensure accurate international student, application, and school records exist between database systems, develop and manage queries for data integrity. Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date internal processing team documentation regarding university policies, entrance requirements and procedures related to international student admissions processing. (20%)
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with the Assistant Director of International Recruitment (ADIR), staff in Center for International Education (CIE), the Department of Athletics, and Graduate School in advocacy of international students. Provide support as needed to assist the ADIR and CIE with yield and enrollment efforts. (10%)
Assist the admissions operations team with processing of requests such as change of term, change of major, etc. as well as providing backup support for processing of domestic undergraduate and graduate applications as time allows. Other administrative duties as assigned. (10%)
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least one year of professional experience in international admissions within U.S. higher education context, international student advising or support, or educational technology
- At least a basic understanding of standardized tests, English proficiency tests, and university admissions requirements
- Master's Degree
- Minimum one year experience in data/document processing, experience in enrollment management/operations and student information systems is highly preferred. On the job training will include systems navigation, international transcript evaluation process, graduate and international admissions process.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary is $43,409. Benefits available include health, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance, as well as a selection of several defined contribution retirement plans. Dependents and spouses of UNC Employees who are employed at 0.5 FTE or above are eligible for undergraduate dependent tuition grants of up to 50%. These tuition grants will cover in-state tuition charges. Further requirements may exist. Other benefits may be available based on position.
