Job Summary:

The Director of Nursing Education provides program leadership and direction to the multifaceted Nursing Program. The Director is responsible for the oversight of multiple educational pathways. Responsible for maintaining Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (A.C.E.N.) accreditation and approval by the Michigan State Board of Nursing for both PN and RN pathways. Hires, mentors and supervises all full-time and lead faculty, full-time Teaching Clinicians, as well as the Clinical, Lab, and Simulation Administrative Director. The Director of Nursing Education provides vision and leadership in developing innovative and alternative program delivery models that expands accessibility to diverse populations while addressing employer workforce needs. Serves as the liaison with the external/community stakeholders and with other divisions in the college to promote student success for pre-nursing and nursing students. Maintains a robust and effective employer advisory committee, maintains formal articulation agreements with universities, and aligns program with local nurse residency programs. Must demonstrate a commitment to the diversity of a multi-cultural population, as well as work effectively in a team-based environment, seeking continuous improvement and adherence to the community college mission. Responsible for Nursing Program budget oversight. Reports to the Associate Dean of Health and Human Services.

Required Qualifications:
  • Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Current unencumbered State of Michigan Registered Nurse License must be submitted prior to issuance of final offer of employment
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be submitted prior to issuance of final offer of employment
  • Significant administrative and supervisory experience in nursing
  • Significant classroom experience in nursing education
  • Significant nursing practice experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Accreditation process experience
  • Employer Advisory Board experience
  • Educational program planning including matters of facilities, staffing and budget
  • Association with community nursing organizations
  • High fidelity simulation experience
