ABOUT THIS ROLE
As a Spring 2022 Academy Instructor, you will be part of the fourth semester of our innovative and exciting new program, Global Citizen Year Academy. This position is ideal for skilled educators who are excited to shape future leaders and facilitate interactive group sessions for a diverse, motivated cohort of emerging adults (17-20 years old) from across the globe. Instructors will teach our Leadership as a Practice course using Minerva’s Active Learning Forum, a web-based platform that supports real-time, synchronous seminars with high levels of student-faculty interaction and active learning. We are looking for individuals who have a growth mindset, are comfortable with technology, are passionate about developing young leaders, and have a student-focused approach to their facilitation.

YOUR OPPORTUNITY FOR IMPACT

Position Responsibilities
  • Average of 18 hours per week.
  • There will be two weeks of online training (6-10 hrs per week) focusing on Global Citizen Year, tech platform for the course, and the curriculum.
  • Complete all necessary prep work to deliver the Global Citizen Year Academy curriculum.
  • Facilitate one Leadership As a Practice seminar (one 90 min/19 student section) on Sundays or Mondays.
  • Facilitate two 60 min/10 student learning groups per week on Tuesday / Wednesday and Wednesday / Thursday.
  • Follow up: grading, feedback, and office hours for students.
  • Mandatory weekly instructional team meeting.
  • Check-ins and coaching with the lead instructor.

Instructors must have the skills, knowledge and experience to be able to:
  • Facilitate dynamic discussions and actively engage students on an online platform.

  • Follow and make adaptations as necessary to an existing curriculum.
  • Nurture and develop an inclusive classroom culture and relationships with students across cultural, geographic, and identity-based lines

POSITION LOGISTICS
Compensation: $7200 USD for the semester, which includes instructor orientation and training and teaching the full semester.

Location: All classes are taught on a technology platform, you have complete flexibility to teach at Global Citizen Year Academy via computer from any geographic location where there are good internet connections.

Start date: We are giving priority to applications received by December 2 ; and instructors will be expected to start on January 24, 2021.

Spring Academy Dates

Instructor orientation: January 24th - February 4th, 2022
Academy: February 13 - May 6, 2022
Student orientation week: Feb. 13 - 18
