We are looking for a Director of Graduate Academic Operations to join our Graduate Studies Team at Delaware Valley University in beautiful Doylestown, PA!

Serves as director for graduate programs and has the primary responsibility for all academic operations, including the staffing of courses, learning outcome assessment, and new program development. Collaborates with other institutional units such as the Registrar and Institutional Research, as well as other graduate directors, to ensure quality in the communication and execution of policies and procedures. Works with faculty and other graduate directors to administer learning outcomes assessment, report, and analyze findings. Supports the Dean in program development, including research of emerging opportunities and the securing of external funding in support of new programs and/or the improvement of current programs.

Reporting to the Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies, this is a 12-month, full-time staff position.

Supervisory Responsibilities include:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff or student workers
  • Oversees the daily workflow of direct reports
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations and feedback
  • Sets yearly goals and initiatives for direct reports
  • Manages time off requests for staff

Essential job responsibilities include:

  • Creates schedules and ensures execution of courses by maintaining staffing, performing syllabi review, placing book orders, etc.
  • Manages all student learning outcomes assessment processes
  • Researches new program opportunities and assists in the implementation of plans/completing applications for program development/revision 
  • Manages and maintains all graduate school policies and the expression of those policies in university publications (catalog, handbooks, website, etc.) 
  • Works collaboratively with Academic Directors to build and maintain sustainable programs
  • Oversees accreditation activities and creates accompanying reports for accreditors 
  • Maintains budget and oversight of expenses associated with programs
  • Reviews and makes recommendations on all graduate program admission applications
  • Liaises with appropriate stakeholders to facilitate grant and other funding opportunities
  • Produces monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Master's degree required
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an administrative position, ideally in higher education

The successful candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills 
  • Excellent planning, analytical and operational management skills including staffing
  • Working knowledge of learning outcomes assessments
  • Proficiency with learning management/enterprise resource/student administrative systems (i.e. Blackboard, Banner, Colleague, etc.)
  • Proficiency with budget management
  • Skilled in creating useful, quality reports
  • Knowledge of grant writing 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact well with a diverse community of students, faculty and staff
  • Ability to evaluate and make recommendations for change

Physical demands and working conditions for this position include:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasionally lifting 25 lbs. or less
  • Typically standing or walking
  • Must hold valid driver's license
  • May have an alternative work schedule
  • May be required to be on-call
  • Occasional travel
