Campbell University established its nationally acclaimed College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (CPHS) in 1986. Programs within the college include undergraduate degrees in pre-pharmacy, clinical research, nursing, and pharmaceutical sciences; graduate degrees in clinical research, pharmaceutical sciences, and public health; professional degrees in doctor of health sciences, doctor of pharmacy, doctor of physical therapy, and masters of physician assistant practice, and nine dual degrees.

Campbell University invites applications for Department Chair of Pharmacy Practice. This is a twelve-month appointment (tenure track position at a rank of associate or full professor) in the Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and reports directly to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The Department Chair is the principal administrative officer of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and is responsible for providing strategic vision and leading the full range of program development and managing its delivery within the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee faculty development and provide faculty support
  • Manage faculty workload
  • Provide didactic instruction
  • Oversee programming and operations housed within the department
  • Develop, foster, and maintain relationships with clinical partners
  • Manage department allocation of fiscal and human resources
  • Coordinate intradepartmental and interdepartmental communication
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and supervise faculty
  • Assist the Associate Dean for Administration in the management and supervision of administrative staff (e.g., training, professional education)
  • Collaborate with pharmaceutical sciences chair, other health science program heads, and appropriate deans to deliver all aspects of the PharmD program
  • Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including but not limited to Title IX, and Information Security, including but not limited to HIPAA, FERPA, and other state and federal mandates
  • Other job-related duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
  • The Chair must hold a Doctor of Pharmacy degree or its equivalent from an accredited school or college of pharmacy and have academic experience that is commensurate with the rank of tenure-track associate or full professor
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience and minimum five years of work experience as a faculty member in a school or college of pharmacy is preferred
  • Previous leadership or management experience is preferred
  • Previous or current clinical practice and student pharmacist precepting experience is preferred
