Job Summary

The successful candidates are expected to teach undergraduate mathematics courses, maintain a robust scholarly program, and demonstrate commitment to high impact learning practices. The applicants are also expected to show effectiveness in initiating and advising undergraduate capstone and research projects (our majors often present at conference presentations, with some co-authoring journal papers with Math faculty), and will serve on various program, school, college or university committees. The standard teaching load for this position is twelve credit hours per semester. Ranks commensurate with the applicants' experience and credentials.

Scope

The Mathematics program in the School of Sciences, Technology, and Mathematics is seeking to fill up to three Tenure-Track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in Mathematics, to begin in August 2022. We encourage applicants from all areas of Mathematics.

Required Skills

We are looking for candidates showing excellence and enthusiasm in teaching a variety of lower and upper-level undergraduate mathematics courses, and demonstrating strong potential for research. Good interpersonal skills, and an ability to mentor students both inside and outside the classroom.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. ABD candidates will be considered

College Description

Courses are offered in Mathematics to complement almost all disciplines in the University. In addition, the major works closely with the Center for Teacher Education in program planning for licensure for those desiring to teach high school or middle school mathematics. One of the highlights of the mathematical tradition at Ohio Northern University was Benjamin Finkel, an ONU graduate who was the founder of the American Mathematical Monthly in 1894. Mathematics resides within the School of Science, Technology, and Mathematics in the Getty College of Arts & Sciences. Programs emphasize rigorous academics combined with hands-on experience in the student's chosen field. Small class sizes and close mentored relationships with engaged faculty members are hallmarks of ONU programs in the school of Science, Technology, and Mathematics.
