We are currently searching for a Director of Clinical Training to serve the doctoral students in the Applied Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program based on the Los Angeles Campus.

The Director of Clinical Training- Applied Clinical Psychology(ACP) Department oversees the entire practicum and internship experience for the students in our doctoral program who are based on the Los Angeles Campus. This position collaborates with the Director of Clinical Training - Applied Clinical Psychology Anaheim/San Diego and acts as a liaison between the academic program administration and faculty, the training sites, and the students across various campuses. This position reports to the Department Chair of Applied Clinical Psychology and the Campus Director of the Office of Placement and Training.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves as the primary training professional for ACP students based on the Los Angeles Campus

  • May supervise other department-specific OPT staff as well as the work of faculty assigned to assist with training matters

  • Assists the Department Chair in managing the clinical training experiences that are incorporated into the Applied Clinical PsyD curriculum.

  • Develop and maintain a network of practicum sites, as well as relationships with site supervisors.

  • Works closely with the Applied Clinical Psychology Director of Clinical Training/Anaheim and San Diego Campuses, coordinating training activities for the Department and providing back up to the students on the Anaheim and San Diego campuses in her/his/their absence.

  • Assist the Office of Placement and Training in completing annual site visits.

  • Oversee the education of students who are new to the practicum and internship search processes and practices.

  • Consult with students who are encountering issues related to their clinical training experiences.

  • Manage the flow of information regarding students' progress, as well as problems, to academic department chair faculty, and/or practicum sites.

  • Maintain a reliable tracking system for the training experiences of the ACP students on all three campuses.

  • Oversee the review of practicum evaluations and related paperwork.

  • Manage the proper storage and/or dissemination of training data including the relevant portions of the ALCEA and TEVERA databases.

  • Consult on the development of new OPT initiatives and projects.

  • Serve as a faculty member in the Applied Clinical Psychology Department and participate in the Applied Clinical Psychology department meetings.

  • Participate in department-level strategic planning and budget process.

  • Consult on the development and maintenance of coursework pertinent to applied professional practice.

  • Interact and communicate successfully with a diverse population.

  • Act in a way that embodies the mission, vision and values of The Chicago School.

  • Adhere to all confidentiality requirements.

  • Attend Faculty Council meetings.

  • Attend OPT meetings.

  • Hold regular office hours.

  • Serve as the Department's liaison to CAPIC.

  • Maintain appropriate records (e.g., PATTR) for programs from which students are being placed.

  • Other duties as assigned by Department Chair and Campus Director of OPT.

  • May teach and chair dissertations as defined in the contract and at the discretion of the Department Chair.

Qualifications:

  • 2 -3 years of professional training experience preferred.

  • Successful teaching experience at the graduate school level.

  • Licensure as a psychologist in California or licensed at the doctoral level as a psychologist in another state and eligible for a California license within two years of hire date.

  • Ability to travel to site locations.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct oneself in respectful and ethical manner.

  • Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple deadlines while meeting or exceeding expectations.

  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.

  • Learns actively to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

  • Listens actively, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

  • Thinks critically to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Communicates ideas and information effectively in both verbal and written form.

  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, needs, and demands.

  • Managing one's own time and the time of others effectively.

  • Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.

  • Knowledge of local and national training and licensing requirements.

  • Knowledge of the California Board of Psychology rules and regulations regarding practicum and internship

  • Understanding and ability to navigate multiple levels of program hierarchies.

  • Willingness and ability to work some weekend hours as needed to be available to students.

  • Computer Proficiency

  • MS Office
