Reporting to the vice president for enrollment management and student success, the associate vice president for student success (AVP) will provide the overarching vision and strategic leadership for Loyola University Chicago’s Student Academic Services and the Office of Career Services. The AVP will role model collaboration with campus partners, faculty, staff, and students to develop and implement a comprehensive framework that supports student success, career outcomes, and career development. To this end, the successful candidate will draw upon emerging and best practices to ensure effective design and delivery of academic support services for LUC students, as well as the delivery of high-caliber career services for students and alumni. They will develop systems and processes to measure and assess the effectiveness of services for how they impact retention, graduation, outcomes, and student/alumni learning objectives; develop and disseminate key performance indicators and accompanying reports on student success and career metrics; and adjust programs and services as needed to improve outcomes and impact.

This senior leader will be a champion and advocate for the functions and teams within their portfolio—offices of New Student Programs, First and Second Year Advising, Achieving College Excellence, the Tutoring Center, the Student Accessibility Center, the Office of Black Student Success, and the Office of Career Services, which includes career education and advising, outreach operations such as career fairs, and employer relations. The AVP will have the unique opportunity to launch LUC’s Office of Black Student Success, and, building on its success, they will identify opportunities for other new offices that will increase the academic, professional, and personal success of specific student groups. Further, the AVP will work closely with Student Development partners to ensure that curricular and co-curricular programming are aligned in supporting students and their success.

A master’s degree with a minimum of ten years of progressive experience in areas such as student success, career services, and student development are required; a doctoral degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated record of leading innovative and equity-focused student success initiatives in a higher education setting; proven knowledge of trends and best practices in higher education as they relate to career and professional development; the ability to persuasively present data and advocate for decisions based on best practices; and a record of professional accomplishment.

The successful candidate must be a strategic leader, adept at qualitative and quantitative assessment and program evaluation, and dedicated to developing and supporting a cohesive and resourceful team within the context of Loyola’s Catholic, Jesuit mission.
