Position Highlights

The University of Arizona (UArizona), Campus Health Service's (CHS) Counseling & Psych Services (CAPS) department is seeking a full-time fiscal, Arizona licensed or license eligible Mental Health Clinician (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) to provide mental health triage, brief individual and group counseling, support groups, workshops, referral, consultation, outreach, and crisis services to UArizona undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. This position will work closely with the entire CAPS staff, as well as interfacing with the CHS medical team, the Dean of Students Office, Housing and Residential Life, faculty, families, and other campus departments and community entities. This position will provide clinical services for LGBTQ+ populations, coordinate the Trans Treatment Team, participate in the CHS Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and provide trainings for CAPS, CHS and the greater university community on LGBTQ+ issues.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work
    cooperatively as part of a multidisciplinary campus-based health and
    mental health team that provides direct clinical services to enrolled UA
  • Provide
    psychological evaluation, risk assessment, crisis management, and brief
    treatment to UA students (individuals, couples, groups).
  • Provide
    clinical services for LGBTQ+ populations, coordinate the Trans Treatment
    Team, participate in the CHS Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and
    provide trainings for CAPS, CHS and the greater university community on
    LGBTQ+ issues.
  • Participate
    in campus community outreach, prevention, and psycho-educational
    activities, as well as occasional crisis/emergency response.
  • Provide
    consultation to families, faculty, staff, administrators, and CHS medical providers.
  • Utilize
    relevant information technology.
  • Participate
    in relevant CAPS, CHS, and university wide committees, as assigned.
  • Provide
    culturally responsive, effective support for the needs of a diverse
    undergraduate, graduate, and professional student populations, ensuring
    the needs of historically underserved communities are met including, but
    not limited to QT+BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Veteran, disabled, low-income, immigrant,
    first generation, undocumented, DACA, mixed status family, and
    international students.
  • Provide culturally sensitive outreach to diverse campus groups and strengthen connections with partners on campus.
    Additional duties as assigned.

and Skills Required:

  • Excellent
    grasp of psychopathology and diagnostic systems.
  • Evidence of strong self-awareness of how
    one's own identities and life experiences impact their counseling
    strategies and interactions with students.
  • Knowledge and general skills required to effectively work with historically underserved populations.
  • Proficiency in addressing issues of culture, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical functioning, and other aspects of identity within the context of psychotherapy with emerging adults.
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to racial trauma, racial battle fatigue, and commitment to anti-racism.
  • Proficient
    with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ongoing commitment to continued learning
    in the areas of multicultural humility, equity, justice, and inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in an
    applied mental health field (e.g., Social Work or Counseling) from an
    accredited institution.
  • Current Licensure in
    the State of Arizona or secure an Arizona License as a Clinical Social
    Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage
    and Family Therapist (LMFT) within 6 months of hire. An Associate level licensure may be considered if close to meeting independent licensure hours.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is typically required.
  • Experience in psychopathology and
    diagnostic systems.

Preferred Qualifications

* Prior clinical experience in a multidisciplinary clinic setting.

* At least three years of post-degree clinical experience.

* Experience in utilizing a brief therapy model of care.

* Experience in college mental health, including crisis assessment and management, mental health triage, brief psychotherapy and referrals, as indicated.

* Specialize in providing clinical services to transgender clients.

* Clinical interest/experience in working with clients with high-risk mental health issues.

* Experience utilizing an electronic health record.
