Position Summary
The Religious Studies Program at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full time, 9-month appointment at the rank of Lecturer III to begin August 1, 2022. The program seeks to hire a lecturer with knowledge and teaching experience relevant to the Religion, Life, and Culture subfield within our program, and expertise in online teaching. Specifically, the program seeks someone with experience teaching courses in religion, health, and medicine, and additional topics relevant to the study of Religion, Life, and Culture, especially religion and literature. In addition, preference will be given to candidates who have teaching experience in world religions and/or comparative religions, and/or in the history of Abrahamic religions (i.e. "Western religions"), as these represent areas of teaching need within our program. Finally, the successful candidate will have some experience in teaching assessments. All Lecturers are reviewed annually.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Ph.D. in Religious Studies or a related field by date of application
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching in an academic institution of higher education

Preferred
Qualifications:


1. Demonstrated expertise in online teaching at the undergraduate level.
2. Teaching experience in the field of religion, health, and medicine, as well as additional fields relevant to the study of Religion, Life, and Culture (especially religion and literature).
3. Teaching experience in world religions and/or comparative religions, and/or in the history of Abrahamic religions.
4. Ability to contribute to other core areas in the department.
5. Familiarity with curriculum assessment.
6. A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
