Assistant Professor of Music, Director of Choral Activities
The College of Idaho seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music to serve as Director of Choral Activities. DMA or PhD in choral conducting or music education is required (ABD considered). Preference will be given to candidates with college- or secondary-level teaching and conducting experience, background as a vocalist and vocal instructor, ability to work collaboratively, and passion for liberal arts education.
Primary activities include directing the College of Idaho Chorale and Chamber Singers. Additional duties include teaching conducting and music education courses.
The successful candidate will create high-quality, cohesive performance programs that are both artistic and educational. The successful candidate will also be expected to recruit prospective students by working with our Admissions Division as well as directors and students in local secondary schools. Duties also include arranging and leading periodic choir tours.
Review of candidates will begin 25 October, 2021 and continue until the position is filled. Applications should include a cover letter; CV; statement of teaching philosophy that clearly articulates a commitment to liberal arts education and to representation, inclusion, and equity; recordings of choral rehearsals and performances (15–20 minutes each, YouTube link preferred); copies of two representative programs of conducted concerts; unofficial transcripts; and three letters of recommendation.
