Job Description Summary
Michigan Technological University and The College of Business invites applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Supply Chain or Operations Management with an anticipated starting date of August 2022. Candidates in Supply Chain or Operations Management or a closely related area are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who will be able to support teaching in several of the following areas: Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Six Sigma, Logistics, Purchasing, and Project Management. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)
- Support teaching in several of the following areas: Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Six Sigma, Logistics, Purchasing.
- Conduct rigorous and innovative research, and publish in high quality, peer-reviewed journals Engage in service activities and in the scholarly community both on- and off-campus.
- Support a student-centric, learner-oriented, experiential approach to instruction.
- Apply continuous improvement and safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.
Required Education, Certifications, Licensures (minimum requirements)
Candidates must have a PhD in Supply Chain or Operations Management or a closely related area, preferably from an AACSB accredited school. Exceptional ABD applicants completing their PhD by August 20, 2022 will be considered.
Required Experience (minimum requirements)
Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to publishing high quality, innovative research and effective teaching.
Desirable Education and/or Experience
Engagement with the business community is desired. Encouraged is the ability to engage in external funding initiatives.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities (minimum requirements)
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a student-centric, learner-oriented environment. Ability and passion for experiential learning pedagogy. Strong quantitative aptitude and interest in business analytics.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities
Highly desired are candidates with an active research program or research expertise in purchasing, innovation and entrepreneurship, supply chain integration, or research interests aligned with Michigan Tech’s research centers and institutes (https://www.mtu.edu/research/about/centers-institutes/).Preference will be given to candidates who will be able to support teaching in several of the following areas: Project Management, Supply Chain Analytics, and Business Statistics.
