Position Highlights

The School of Animal & Comparative Biomedical Sciences (ACBS), Division of Agriculture, Life & Veterinary Sciences & Cooperative Extension, is seeking a motivated professional for the position of Human Resources Generalist II. This is a full-time position, 1.0 FTE, working as a member of the ACBS business office team. The successful candidate will be in charge of hiring, payroll, and personnel-related matters to support all members of the school of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences. This position reports to the Manager, Finance and Administration.

Duties & Responsibilities

Human
Resources

  • Serve as point of contact for hiring, payroll, benefits
    and personnel-related matters
  • Create and review position postings, ensure mapping is
    appropriate and consistent with UCAP job classifications
  • Work closely with supervisors and employees with questions
    they may have relating to employment practices and faculty affairs
  • Advise, coordinate and process online transactions
    including new hires, job changes, position distributions, designated
    campus colleagues (DCC), graduate assistantships, terminations and
    non-renewals, sabbaticals, visa changes, etc.
  • Oversee the annual roll-over process including
    coordination with supervisors on continuation of employee funding and
    renewals
  • Responsible for handling leave management including
    vacation, sick time, maternity, sabbaticals, etc.
  • Submit UAccess provisioning requests as needed for ACBS
    employees
  • Track Visa expiration dates and assist Visa holders in
    the extension process for all Visa types

Payroll

  • Advise payment mechanism as appropriate and submit payment
    requests, Supplemental Compensation, Other Professional Services, and
    Faculty List Payment Requisitions (FLPR)
  • Monitor bi-weekly payroll including time coordinator
    communications to supervisors/time approvers. Approve time exception and
    resolve any payroll issues. Submit salary expense transfers (SETs) as
    needed
  • Oversee summer and winter hiring to include salary
    calculations, entering FLPRs, and verifying payroll

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Process HR transactions for the department, including
    new hires, job changes, position distributions, supplemental compensation,
    federal work study and other transactions as needed
  • Maintain employee records and update the employee
    database
  • Monitor payroll, run reports to ensure all time sheets
    are completed in a timely manner, resolve any payroll issues
  • Provide general assistance to employees, answer
    questions or refer them to the correct department
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required.
