Job Description

Greeting visitors and clients to the VTH and College. Checking in patients to the VTH. Preparing medical records for admissions, performing admissions/discharges, back-uup operator, appointment scheduling, distribution of mail, checking & distributing email/faxes, medical record processing & coding. Will act as back up service coordinator to areas needed. Will coordinate services with clients, rDVM's, faculty and staff. Will assist other departments within Patient Services as needed. Good communication skills are essential; Maintains a calm and pleasant demeanor at all times; calmly and quickly handles various emergency situations. Adept at multi-tasking. This position is considered essential personnel and it is necessary for employee to be at work if the University is closed due to inclement weather.

Required Qualifications

Previous experience in a professional office environment; Excellent communication and interpersonal skills on the telephone and in person; must be a team player; good organization skills; Ability to work under stress and meet appointed deadlines; Ability to perform general office related duties; proficient computer skills, including Microsoft office work & excel; demonstrates sound problem-solving skills; Good working knowledge of medical terminology. Previous experience dealing with the public.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous work experience as a medical receptionist, medical records data entry & coding, support of a multi-clinician veterinary practice. Medical Terminology Course.
