Housing Custodian

Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the full-time position with benefits of Housing Custodian (Building/Grounds Specialist II) in University Housing.

Duties include, but are not limited to: clean and sanitize assigned restroom facilities; clean all surfaces and items in assigned areas; maintain flooring in designated areas; remove trash and recyclables; assist team with cleaning/turn-over of all rooms in between occupancy, including Fall Check-in, Winter Break and Spring Move-out; clean for summer conferences and orientations; maintaining equipment and reporting maintenance and supply needs; stock and maintain supply carts and closets; promote and use best safety practices; provide exceptional customer service to all constituents; and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and at least six (6) months of experience in the custodial field.

Must be able to perform constant, intense physical labor; regularly move & use equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to perform duties requiring push/pull activity, hand/finger coordination, constant repetitive motion of wrist, arm & shoulder; reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, & kneel; work with chemicals, dust, fumes and odors associated with custodial work. Must be able to wear safety and protective equipment as needed. Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions.

Building/Grounds Specialist II (KA10/003134/FTE-S00507P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 02. Normal working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Must be able to work overtime - before start of shift, at end of shift, weekends, etc. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.

Required Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent (GED). At least six months experience in custodial field.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to deal courteously with the public and students. Ability to work independently and supervise student employees. Knowledge of operation and use of equipment and tools used in the care and cleaning of buildings. Knowledge of custodial services practices, techniques, and procedures preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
