Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the full-time position with benefits of Housing Maintenance Technician (Trades Specialist IV) in University Housing.
Duties include, but are not limited to: perform high-level trade skills in the maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities; including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, appliance, and carpentry; maintain documentation regarding work activities through StarRez housing software; request and utilize equipment and materials appropriately; operate University vehicles, such as box truck, pick-up truck, van, forklift, man-lift, and golf cart; move furniture, supplies and equipment; inspect Housing facilities and equipment; promote and use best safety practices; complete all required trainings; complete general custodial work; participate in on-call rotation in coordination with other maintenance staff; follow emergency protocols and collaborate with Resident Success Staff in emergency situations; provide exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, venders, visitors and the community at large; and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years related work experience in all phases of general and preventative maintenance. Must have a valid state driver's license and satisfactory 3-year driving record. Knowledge of hand tools and power equipment used in the plumbing profession preferred.
Must be able to perform constant, intense physical labor; move & use equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Must be able to wear safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) when needed as per OSHA regulation. Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of environmental conditions. Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work from ladders, elevated platforms and rooftops.

Trades Specialist IV (KC40/149665/FTE-S00506P), full-time position with benefits. SC State Pay Band: 04. Normal working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Must be able to work overtime - before start of shift, at end of shift, weekends, etc. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
Required QualificationsHigh school diploma and two (2) years related work experience in all phases of general and preventative maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of operation and use of equipment and tools used in the general maintenance of buildings including common hand tools and portable, hand-held power tools. Able to operate University vehicles including vans, trucks, golf carts, forklifts, and "man-lift" devices. Possess knowledge of safety practices and the skills to make emergency and general repairs and/or adjustments to equipment. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
