The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest undergraduate college at Cornell and consists of approximately 4,600 undergraduates, 1,370 graduate students, 600 faculty, 40 academic departments, and 300 staff. The college receives almost 35,000 undergraduate applications per year.

The Assistant Director of Admissions plays an integral role in the Office of Admissions of the College of Arts and Sciences, assisting the Director in the creation, implementation, and coordination of programs that will contribute to the College's enrollment goals.

More specifically, the Assistant Director of Admissions is responsible for managing the college's Internal Transfer (IT) process, overseeing Early Credential Review (ECRs), and collaborating with other team members on yield events and info sessions / visitor engagement.

The Assistant Director counsels prospective students on how to apply for admission to the College and conducts information sessions. The Assistant Director also coordinates and executes the selection process for an admissions region for which they will be responsible.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in an admissions office or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy with attention to detail, and to effectively prioritize multiple tasks. Proven record of meeting tight deadlines.
  • Must possess sound judgment, ability to respond in a professional manner, and demonstrated commitment to the highest standards of integrity and confidentiality in working effectively with all constituents (including staff, faculty, advisers, applicants, and families) throughout the admissions process.
  • Ability to function well as both a team player and individually.
  • A high level of both verbal and written communication skills, including ability to represent the College of Arts and Sciences in presentations.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, data analysis, and spreadsheet programs.
  • The successful candidate should possess a thorough understanding of, and a deep commitment to, the value of a liberal arts education in the 21st century.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of highly selective holistic admissions process for selective to highly selective US universities. Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) systems in higher education, such as Slate.
