West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine and the West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute is seeking a leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery. This is an exceptional leadership opportunity for a physician with a commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and research.
The Department of Neurosurgery performs over 5,000 surgical procedures annually and is composed of 23 neurosurgeons with significant opportunities for growth of faculty and services.
The Chair will provide leadership in a growing, integrated delivery health care system. The successful candidate will have the skills and commitment to advance medical education, research, and mentor department faculty and trainees. Administrative experience with multi-disciplinary departments, strategic planning, finance, budgeting, quality, operations, and recruitment is preferred.
Applicants must be board certified in neurosurgery, and eligible to obtain a West Virginia medical license. A minimum of five years of experience in a leadership role in a university, academic, or multi-specialty practice is preferred. Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications.
West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI) is an integrated and comprehensive patient care, education, and research institute with over 1300 staff members and 185 faculty across 5 departments (neurosurgery, neuroscience, neurology, neuroradiology, and behavioral medicine). The RNI manages over 250,000 patient visits annually.
