Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) invites applications for the Associate Director of Success Coaching and Programming, a brand-new position in the Center for Academic Success and Accessibility Services.

A recent merger of the Academic Success Center and the Disability Resource Center led to the launch of the Center for Academic Success and Accessibility Services. The Associate Director of Success Coaching and Programming is an exciting outcome of this merger. Recognizing the value of a more integrated approach to the academic success of students, the Associate Director will work closely with teammates to develop a robust offering of programs and initiatives that enhance support and promote self-advocacy, helping students gain confidence and independence throughout their collegiate journey.

Reporting to the Center Director, the Associate Director provides leadership, planning and supervision over the success coaching, mentoring and advocacy initiatives, and other programming/educational initiatives that promote academic enrichment as well as nonacademic needs and support for students. The Associate Director will lead from a holistic lens of student development and understand how to successfully fuse and integrate accessibility services into coaching. The candidate will contribute to a positive work environment where no student leaves without receiving the support they need.

Required qualifications for this position include a master’s degree in education or related field (i.e., higher education, psychology, counseling, social work) and four years of knowledge and experience working with college students who face barriers in pursuit of their educational goals are required. Other requirements include demonstrated expertise in success coaching, mentoring or program development; experience supervising students and/or staff; ability to make data-informed decisions; and, demonstrated commitment to creating a just and inclusive community, intercultural competency, and enthusiasm for working at an institution committed to social justice.
