Richland Community College is seeking applicants for the full-time Purchasing Coordinator position. This position is a member of the Financial Services Team and works closely with the Controller and the Vice President of Finance to ensure the procurement of supplies and equipment in an efficient and timely manner. The Coordinator is responsible for organizing and administering the procurement of all goods, services and capital needs necessary for the operation of the College in accordance with the Illinois Public Community College Act, the Illinois Purchasing Act, and established Board of Trustees Policies and procedures. The Purchasing Coordinator serves as the college expert in regards to purchasing methods, systems, workflows, and cost effective procurement.

Required Qualifications include: 
  • Associates Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a direct industry purchasing capacity. 
  • Familiarity with purchasing statutes, policies, rules, and procedures in relation to public procurement of goods and services. 
  • This position requires a background check, as well as, a credit check.
  • Understanding of purchasing operations, experience in an educational or governmental environment preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to write/prepare reports, and analyze data; proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications; ability to use electronic equipment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Ability to work with independently with limited direction.
Preferred Qualifications include:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred with at least 2 years of direct industry purchasing experience. 
  • Prior experience as a Coordinator in Purchasing is a plus.
Pay Band E-9 $39,197 Minimum Starting Salary
