Restricted Funds Accountant
Frostburg State University seeks applications for an exempt full-time Restricted Funds Accountant. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes University System of Maryland benefits package.
Responsibilities: The Restricted Funds Accountant is responsible for the post-award financial administration of grants and contracts that flow through the Office of Sponsored Programs. Duties include creating invoices and financial reports to external funders; monitoring budgets and expenses; ensuring fiscal compliance with federal, state, local, and private funders’ regulations and requirements; performing electronic drawdowns of funds, reconciling invoices to financial system data; approving grant expenditures; close-out of grant awards; administration of the effort reporting system; and regularly meeting with faculty, staff, administration, and external funders regarding the financial management of grants and contracts. This position also serves as the liaison for external auditors when audits of restricted grants and contracts are performed.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with 1 – 3 years of relevant experience. Knowledge of federal grant regulations and compliance requirements. Firm grasp of basic accounting principles and strong number sense. Good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree with 4 – 6 years relevant experience. Knowledge of PeopleSoft or Workday financial system.
