The Academic Advising Resource Center/Office of the Registrar (AARC) seeks a Student Information Systems Analyst. This is a full-time administrative and professional position reporting to the Associate Dean of Academic Advising/Registrar. This is a term-limited position that will end on June 30, 2022, with the possibility of renewal. 

The AARC serves students, alumni, faculty, and staff and collaborates with divisions and departments across the institution. Staff within the AARC maintain student records and the curriculum; manage scheduling, registration, and catalog production; and monitor progress toward graduation and award degrees. The office also supports academic advisors and students on issues related to academic success and academic standing. 

The Student Information Systems Analyst will serve as a functional/technical resource for the core software systems utilized by the AARC. Responsibilities include coordinating upgrades, testing, training and support, and integrations. The Student Information Systems Analyst will also develop reports that support business processes within the AARC and respond to report requests from other divisions and departments. 

The Student Information Systems Analyst will work in close cooperation with other college administrative offices including the Deans’ Offices of the College of Arts and Sciences and the Conservatory of Music, Administrative Computing Services, the Office of Student Accounts, the Office of Admissions, the Office of Financial Aid, and Institutional Research.

The successful candidate will bring flexibility and creativity; be comfortable with ambiguity; and have a mindset that proactively identifies opportunities for improvement. 
  • Serve as an applications administrator for software directly administered by the AARC by managing configurations, integrations, planning and testing of upgrades, and providing technical training and support for staff
  • Serve as the primary resource for Degree Works, including configuration, scribing, reporting, validation, maintenance of user roles and permissions, and training and support. 
  • Maintain an understanding of degree and program requirements, course maintenance, scheduling, student records
  • Coordinate testing of upgrades and assist with validating data for registrarial and advising aspects of enterprise systems. This includes Banner Student, Argos, OnBase, and Engage CRM 
  • Design, validate, analyze, and manage access to reports that support course planning, recruitment and retention, advising, degree progress, and process improvements;
  • Configure communications sent through the Banner Communications Module
  • Serve as the primary contact for evaluation of new software and implementation of software
  • Serve as a liaison between the Center for Information Technology and external consultants and the AARC/Registrar’s Office, and work with the AARC/Registrar’s Office team to set priorities for CIT
  • Serve as a liaison to financial aid, student accounts, and admissions for business processes impacted by updates to student records
  • Develop project plans, track progress, and communicate with stakeholders
  • Design, manage, and carry out special projects that address changing requirements and promote efficiency and automation in business processes 
  • Other related duties and projects as assigned 
We seek an experienced candidate who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills who simultaneously understands the technical aspects involved in supporting complex student information systems. The successful candidate will have: 

Technical Experience
    • Experience with student information systems and records management 
    • Experience maintaining and supporting a degree audit module
    • Demonstrated data analysis and reporting writing skills 
    • Understanding of database organization and structure
    • Experience in and a proven track record in expressing established academic policies in detailed system design specifications
    • Experience with SQL
Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Strong oral and written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare well-organized and clear instructional and technical documentation; to communicate effectively with upper-level administrative staff, information technology systems support staff, academic faculty, and operational staff; and to translate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff 
  • Experience in developing collegial professional relationships with people from different backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, international origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexuality, and other aspects of human diversity
Additional Qualifications
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
  • Experience with project management methodology
  • Knowledge of federal laws, regulations, and reporting requirements relevant to student records
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities concurrently with pace
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or a bachelor’s degree in any field with demonstrated equivalent experience
