Associate Director of Accounting
Network Infrastructure and Services (NI&S) is looking for an Associate Director of Accounting to provide oversight and management of the department's accounting activities. The Associate Director's responsibilities include management of the department's billing, cash receipts, payroll, procurement, and accounts payable activities. This management position includes providing leadership and direction to a small team of accountants and fiscal technicians.
The successful candidate will report to and collaborate with the Director of Business Services to ensure alignment of the accounting operations with budgeting and other financial planning activities.
NI&S is part of the Division of Information Technology at Virginia Tech. We are a financially self-supporting auxiliary that provides advanced network, communications, public safety. and data center services. We design, deploy, and operate enterprise scale network, systems, monitoring, and communication services. NI&S is a dynamic and exciting organization with a commitment to continuous improvement and is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person with both business and management competencies to fill this role. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work in a collaborative and agile technology organization that is responsible for managing business and financial planning activities like a typical small-to-medium business. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical, strategic planning, communication, and leadership skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or equivalent professional experience.
- Extensive experience managing accounting and financial processes and procedures.
- Experience designing, developing, and analyzing financial reports.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with productivity software including spreadsheets, word processing, presentation applications, databases, and query tools.
- Master's degree in a closely related field.
- CPA License
- Supervisory experience
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check as well as documentation of COVID-19 vaccination.
